In the 9th inning when Matsui hit the two run-single, I thought that they had a possibility of turning the game around. However, when Hinske, the former Blue Jay came up to bat with two outs, I wasn't so sure. He had been ahead in the count by 3-1 and could have walked if he hadn't swung and missed next pitch causing a full count. The next and final pitch of the game was in the zone and Hinske knew he had to swing. This would be fine if he knew how to swing!!!
Needless to say he struck out and the Yanks lost.... :-(
I guess you can't win them all

Didn't see the game but it sounds like the umps were as much to blame as anyone. I think we should give Hinske a break - he did hit a home run in his first game as a Yankee. Like you said, "can't win them all", but one more hit would have been so nice.
I didn't see the home run, but it sounded like the Yankees really love him for it! I agree though, he does deserve much credit despite the fact that he didn't get on base in the ninth inning.
